Our popper has exceeded our expectations. It pops faster than is stated, and the eight ounce servings can be cranked out fast to cater to a large crowd. Oil is steaming in about 90 seconds and about three minutes later the corn is popped. Very fast and just what we needed. Considering the mess popcorn oil makes, it cleans up relatively easily by just wiping it with warm dish cloth and paper towels. A bonus is that kids and adults light up when they see it and all have said the popcorn tastes great. So far we have only used the pre-measured corn and oil as I bought a case and we haven't finished all of that yet. But it looks like measuring out your own corn/oil will work just as well. Finally, someone at the local hardware store has a similar commercial grade popper they use to give customers free popcorn. One day I was there and they had caramel corn. I mentioned to the owner that I had just bought a popper and he gave us a Gold Meadow caramel corn packet to try. I had no idea this could make caramel corn but it does. It's messy, but hey, it's caramel corn.

I ordered this on December 19th and received it on Christmas Eve; shipping was so quick! I did pay less for it from the same company that listed it on eBay, so you may want to check there. The unit is very durable and pops great tasting popcorn. Be warned though. You may be making several batches because everyone asks for seconds and thirds!
The warming deck is such a plus; something I did not find on similarly priced units. The kettle/motor does sometimes make a clicking sound, but so far has worked without incidence. Clean up is relatively easy. After I finish making popcorn, I place about 2 cups of water in the kettle and heat it up in the unit. I place a large bowl in the bottom of the unit so that after the water comes to a boil, I can dump it out without taking the kettle out. I do this about 3 times and then, after the kettle cools, take it out to wipe down. The kettle cannot be immersed in water. The sides clean up easily with Windex or, if you want, Orange Citrus Degreaser. I also purchased Heat and Kleen to clean carbon build up in the kettle, but have not used it yet.
I did quite a bit of research before purchasing this unit. Be sure that you use coconut oil to pop the corn; that is apparently what theaters use. The most difficult part is scooping the oil out because it is NOT a liquid. One trick that I found was melting the oil in the microwave and then pouring it into ice cube trays to harden. I pop two cubes (about 2T) into the kettle with 1/2 cup of corn. Couldn't be easier! I purchased a gallon of coconut oil from the Popcorn Supply Company. You can buy it in the specialty section of a grocery store, but it won't have the bara carotene to make the popcorn yellow. Another must buy is Flavacol, a butter seasoning salt. If your family loves popcorn, you will not be disappointed with this unit! ENJOY!
