I've had this for close to 4 years. While some of the concerns listed by others are legit- the fact that the oiler button is poorly designed, has cracked & the rubber bulb has fallen into the oil well a couple of times, & it is heavy & hard to manuever when fully extended. That said, this has done so many jobs for me around the yard I'd be lost without it. The main thing is don't extend it farther than you have to & this way it's under control. As far as the oil problem, don't fill the resorvoir to the top.

I bought one of these after a recent ice storm left several limbs half-hanging from our trees. I'm not experienced with chain saws in general, so I can't accurately say how this compares with other saws. I would classify this is as a less-expensive homeowner-type saw.However, I can say that it seems to work as intended. From what I understand, it has the same power as most electric chainsaws of its size (a little weak). But it cuts small limbs fine. The thickest limb I cut was about four inches in diameter. Also keep in mind that handling the saw with the pole fully extended is a little tricky, and wears on your arms. The saw sometimes bounces a bit at the end of the pole, so the cuts aren't that smooth or precise. But each cuts gets a little better with practice.
You can also use the saw without the pole. But releasing the attachment between the pole and the saw is quite annoying, and requires undoing four screws and washers. It would be nice to see a model that snapped on and off the pole more easily.
In the very least you will be the envy of your neighbors, who may line up to borrow your new toy.

I purchased this item about 5 years ago because I was tired of the blisters from hand sawing & lopping limbs. With over 70 trees on my lot, this polesaw has been a godsend to me. I cut right through pieces up to 8" in diameter. The only trouble I have had with it is handling it when the pole is FULLY extended. Near impossible if you are short and trying to balance on a ladder. I like another reviewer, have thrown myself off a ladder. It is very heavy when extended because the motor is on the top of the pole. But once you release the trigger the motor shuts off so I don't see his problem with a "running blade". It has a little kick back when the blade is dulling but that is to be expected with any chainsaw.
I really like that I can remove the saw from the pole and use it as a regular chainsaw and not bother my husband with small cuts or log splitting. After all the sharpenings I am due for a new chain. After 5 years...I think I got my moneys worth!
